About Us

Banimandir Railway Higher Secondary School, Siliguri junction was established on 1st April, 1963 under the patronage of N.F. Railway. In its journey of more than 60 years, it has excelled in all scholastic and co-scholastic fields with its limited resources. At the one hand it has produces many board toppers, on the other hand many national and international level athletes, footballers, cricketers have come out of this school. In games and sports, the school participated in Subrata Cup, OORJA Cup (2nd runners up in zonal meet) in football, inter railway sport meets, inter school CBSE meets to name a few. At present the school is affiliated to CBSE, New Delhi (Affiliation No. 2480024).

School Guideline

Rules and Regulation

  1. Punctuality and regularity in attendance is essential. Students who have been absent the previous day must bring a note of explanation through ‘Record of Non-attendance’ page of the almanac without fail. In case of illness a Medical Certificate should also be sent. Students who expect to reach home late after the school due to personal reasons must inform their parents/guardians in advance.
  2. Students must come to school in neatly laundered uniform and polished shoes. The hair should be trimmed and the nails must be cut regularly. Girls with long hair should make plaits. Skirts should be worn Knee-length.
  3. A student must speak in decent language all the time. He must ensure that his speech is courteous and polite. The medium of instruction is English and students are expected to communicate in English at all times.
  4. Respect for school property and school belongings is an absolute must.
  5. Every student is required to carry the school identity card each day of the school.
  6. A student must extend due courtesy and respect to all members of staff. Respect of elders and affection for juniors should be soundly inculcated. Every child is expected to uphold the name & honour of the school.
  7. For safety and security, parents should refrain from sending money with their child without specific written notice from the school. Also, parents should refrain from sending valuables (like expensive jewellery, electronic items, etc.) to school.
  8. Every child must carry a bag/satchel. No books should be carried loose. Books from the time table are only to be brought.
  9. Any pupil who is persistently insubordinate or is repeatedly or wilfully mischievous or is guilty of malpractice in connection with examinations or has committed an act of serious indiscipline and/or misbehaviour or who, in the opinion of the Head of the Institution, has an unwholesome influence on his fellow pupils, may be expelled permanently or removed from the school for a specified period by the Principal.
  10. Obey all school rules.
  1. Parents are requested to go through their wards school diary regularly and sign the teacher’s remarks, if any.
  2. PTA meetings should be regularly attended to discuss the performance and progress of the child.
  3. Parents should acknowledge the circular sent from school in the column provided in the Almanac and informed through WhatsApp.
  4. For the best result parents must motivate and support their child establish a proper study area. Home work must be given a priority in the daily schedule.
  5. Encourage your ward o take a balanced interest in studies, co-curricular activities and sports.
  6. Please ensure that your child does not bring any valuable articles e.g. expensive watches, cameras and jewellery to school. In case of loss of a valuable, the school will try its best to trace the item but will not be responsible for the loss.
  7. In case your ward is punished by the school for some wrong act, please avoid taking his/ her side without going into the details. Please keep in mind that any punishment is meant to improve his/her weakness/mistakes only
  8. Students will neither be allowed to sit for examination nor will they be shown their results cards/ answer sheets until all dues of the school are cleared. Make sure the dues are cleared within time.
  9. A student using the school bus is expected to be at the stop at least five minutes before the scheduled arrival of the bus. The student has to be on the correct side of the arriving bus.Parents should, for the safety of their children, ensure that their wards are always escorted to and from bus stops. For children who, for any reason, have to travel unescorted to and from their stops, an application mentioning the same must be sent to the Principal.
  1. To report for duty in time and to record the exact time of arrival and departure in Staff Attendance Register on every working day.
  2. To get the due sanction of the leave from the Principal before availing and also to observe the Leave Rules. Only 5 Casual leaves are assigned in a session exceeding which results in the leave without pay.
  3. Using mobile phone while in the class is only allowed for official use. As an illustration, searching about the lesson or using talking dictionary.
  4. The works which are assigned or will be assigned to the teachers must be done with honesty and dedication. Any laxity in doing one’s duty will be intolerable.
  5. Teachers have to speak English within the premises of the academy. Moreover, don’t let the students interact in any other language rather than English. Any student communicating in any other language must be warned by the teacher or else must be sent to the office. Only lower classes students are exempted from this rule.
  6. Consumption of any kind of food and drinks are strictly prohibited in the classroom.
  7. All the class/homework of the students must be properly checked and correction must be done/ given for practice. A teacher must put his/her signature with the date after checking the assignments.
  8. The teachers must complete their course in stipulated time. The progress of the teaching will be watched and monitored by the administration.
  9. Try your best to inculcate good manners, discipline and high moral values to the students. You, as a teacher, is a role model to them. So behave yourself as you desire your students to. They will only imitate you, your manner and your behaviour. They will also remember you all through their lives, as your impression on the mind of the students will be everlasting.
  10. Permission for students to leave the center early may be granted only for special cases.
  11. A teacher cannot leave the academy without informing the administrator in between teaching hour or class timing.
